The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) is a professional version of ultimate and the Raleigh Flyers are the AUDL’s local franchise. Playing at WakeMed Soccer Park and Cardinal Gibbons High School, the season starts in April and runs through early August.

This was the Raleigh team’s first year, and they made it to the semi-finals held in San Jose at the new Avaya Stadium, home of the MLS Earthquakes! The AUDL Championship was an over-the-top event that was a coming together of sport and high tech companies from the Silicon Valley area.

Although college ultimate doesn’t feature scholarships (yet), and professional players aren’t getting rich (yet), if you’re interested in a career in a high tech computer or engineering field, this is the sport for you!

Here’s Flyers star Justin Allen swatting away a disc from a Madison Radicals player in front of a giant (Elon Musk’s) Hyperloop banner!
