Pickup Tournament FAQ

When is this happening? Weds August 26 and Thursday August 27, from 5:30 PM until about 8:30 PM.

Where are we playing? Miller Fields, nearest to Morrill Drive (map).

What should I bring?  A white shirt, a dark shirt, water, and your student ID.

What might I want?  If you have cleats, bring ’em.

How do you play ultimate?  You can find the basic rules of the game at this website.  If you want to see it in action, try the first 5 minutes of this YouTube video.

So, how does this work? When you arrive, you’ll be placed on a team of mostly of new players, with a few veteran players mixed in. We’ll briefly go over the main rules of ultimate so everyone knows how to play, then we’ll turn you loose. Your team will play another team for 15 minutes or so, then move one field over to take on a different team. After the games are finished, we eat pizza and the races begin!

If I’m late, can I still play? Absolutely! Show up when it fits your schedule and we’ll get you on a team, no problem.

Will we play in the rain? No matter the weather, if the field is open, then game on! However, the possibility exists that University Recreation may close the field (due to rain, etc). If that happens, we will communicate that to you as quickly as we can via e-mail and on the Home page of our website. You can also check the Rec website for Miller Fields closures information, beneath “Hours of Operation”, found in the right-side info pane.

I have a friend who didn’t sign up…can they come? Everyone is welcome! If they would like to sign up for updates, they can do so via our Sign-Up Form.
