I have never played before, is that ok?
Yes. Most of our players have never played organized Ultimate before coming to college. We’ll teach you all of the rules and strategy you need during tryouts and practice.
Is this a competitive team?
Yes. We are always pursuing to be a national contending team. Saying this, we love to have fun. We will have plenty of that. We work hard, aspire to be a great team, and have a great time doing it.
How often do you practice?
We practice Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6PM-9PM.
What if i have a class during practice?
We realize that you are a student first and you were not necessarily planning on playing Ultimate. However, in the spring we would expect you to try to avoid scheduling classes and labs that meet during practice hours. If it is unavoidable, the captains will work with you. This is not a reason to not try out, we really will work with you.
Can I be involved in other activities on campus?
Yes. We actually encourage involvement in other groups. The practice times and tournaments should be scheduled at the beginning of the semester to help you with planning. We know that there are several things that you might already be involved in, but please do not let that stop you from coming out and at least talking to a captain or another player.
What is your season?
We play both during the fall and the spring. However, in the fall we are bringing everyone up to speed and finding an identity as a team. The spring is the more important semester because of the USA Ultimate tournament series.
How much do you travel?
We will be going to 3 or 4 tournaments in the fall, only one out of state. In the spring we will have to travel to more out of state tournaments, but there will still be some in state. We will go to 6 or 7 tournaments.
How much does it cost?
We are going to be working very hard this year to get sponsors so that we have to pay as little as possible. A few costs that are unavoidable: USA ultimate membership: $35 per person, Jerseys(you get to keep them): $80 per person, and club dues to help with travel: ~$40 (less if we get sponsors)
